Julie has supported people from all walks of life for her entire career. Starting as a Recreation Manager working with older adults and followed by becoming a sales and marketing manager with a national chain of retirement and LTC homes to her current role in Hospice Palliative care.
Julie was drawn to helping people at the end of their life after witnessing the medicalization of the dying process and the lack of honest and open communication with individuals and their family and friends that are experiencing a serious and end of life illness.
About 5 years ago, Julie officially began focusing her energy in Hospice Palliative Care and became the Coordinator of Hospice Volunteer Services with a local non-profit agency where she still works today. She began providing Grief Recovery Method Grief Support to those living in Haldimand and Norfolk Counties both through her work and privately. As a result of both personal loss and supporting many through their losses, Julie has a deep understanding of the depth and breadth of emotions that grievers experience and is able to utilize her extensive experience and empathy to help others begin their own journey of recovery and completion with the pain and isolation that the grieving often experience.
At home, Julie and her family own a small horse farm where they also enjoy beekeeping and the beauty of nature. Julie shares her love of horses with others and uses her experience as an Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator to assist both young and old alike in restoring balance in thier lives.
Julie is committed to life long learning and is currently studying to obtain a certificate in Thanatology through Conestoga College. Additionally, Julie is has recently completed the requirements of the Thanadoula Program offered through Douglas College.
Julie has been offering this support to Haldimand and Norfolk counties since 2015 and is happy to answer your questions and help guide you.
